Tomos surveys a bright future at Robson & Liddle

Tomos Davies has qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer after passing his professional RICS exams.

Tomos, 25, from Clifton, near Penrith needed two years’ practical experience before he could enter the rigorous assessment process.

It involved producing a case study, followed by an intensive interview on all its aspects including landlord and tenant matters, planning law, valuation issues, purchase and sale questions, and the professional ethics of handling clients’ money.

Tomos first joined Robson & Liddle in 2015 for a one-year placement as part of his university studies. He was given a permanent position as a graduate surveyor in 2017 after completing his BSc degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University in Shropshire.

Tomos, who is originally from Denbighshire in North Wales, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have passed the assessment and move forwards in my career at Robson & Liddle.”

He added: “The qualification means I’m regarded by the RICS as being competent to advise clients and undertake formal valuations for a range of purposes.”

Tomos’ role involves advising farmers and landowners across the region on a variety of matters, including valuations, planning, landlord and tenant issues and estate management.

His next challenge is to become a full member of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV). He is currently a probationary member and will sit his exams in the winter.
